About Westerville North High School

The mission of Westerville North is to ensure learning by effectively engaging every student, every day.  We have provided some basic information about Westerville North below.  If you would like to find out more information about the Warriors, please contact us so we can share the great things that happen at Westerville North every day! Kurt Yancey – Principal

 

Westerville North High School has around 1,500  students and is a four-year public high school. North High School has earned an “Excellent” rating, the highest designation by the State of Ohio since 2002. The school day consists of Warrior Staff works to engage every student every day and strives to meet the needs of all students.  The school is accredited by the North Central Association Colleges and Schools and the Ohio Department of Education.  The school mascot is a Warrior and school colors are cardinal & gold.

The Curriculum 

The school currently offers over 140 year-long and semester courses, including the following: English; Mathematics; Science; Social Studies; Health and Physical Education; World Languages of French, Spanish, and American Sign Language; Art; Music; and Business. Additional educational options include: Advanced Placement and Honors courses and over 90 vocational programs at the Columbus and Delaware Area Career Centers, post-secondary options, and independent study.

Graduation Requirements

Twenty credits are required for graduation: English (4), Mathematics (3), Science (3 with 1 biological and 1 physical) , Social Studies (3), Physical Education (.5), Business/Fine Arts/Technology/World Language (1 or two .50 credits), and 6 elective credits, plus passage of the Ohio Graduation Tests.

Co-Curricular Activities

Student activities at North High School offers students opportunities to participate in clubs, interscholastic athletics, and performance groups in music and theater. The Warrior Athletic Department is proud to be the home of twenty individual and six team OHSAA Champions!  The Warriors are a member of the Ohio Capital Conference, Cardinal division.  In 2010 we celebrated our only two time individual champion – Josh Demas, OHSAA Wrestling 171# & 2009 152# State Champion.
