Westerville North Blogs - Principal Yancey

Help Support a Warrior in Need

Aubrey, a courageous 15 year old scholar athlete at Westerville North High School, previously of Walnut Springs Middle School, has been diagnosed recently with Medulloblastoma, a form of brain cancer.  Please visit Aubrey's Angels on Facebook or the web site to read her story.

The safety and security of students is a top priority for Westerville City Schools and here at Westerville North.  The purpose of this letter is to inform you that today, as part of the district's comprehensive safety plan, our students participated in a lockdown drill as required by Section 3737.73 of the Ohio Revised Code.  The purpose of such safety drills is to help students understand the procedures to follow in the event of an emergency in which they would need to be secured in the school building.

Ohio's New Accountability System

This month, the state of Ohio will release the new school report card, which will give insight into how well schools are performing. It is designed to give parents more information about their students as well as provide data for individual schools to make informed instructional decisions.

12th Annual Golf Outing - Westerville North Football

Over the last couple of weeks, we have had the opportunity to recognize many of our students for wonderful accomplishments and I have also recently recieved some recognitions for some of our teachers that I would like to share with our learning community! Finally, I promised I would share some information about the new accountability system for the state of Ohio and how are school will be "graded" in the future.

Hello Warriors

Welcome back from what I hope was a restful Spring Break. The week before we left for break was a very exciting week with many wonderful recognitions and these accolades are ones we need to celebrate as we look forward to a positive close to this school year. I have included these recognitions as well some important information about college readiness.

Outstanding School

Westerville North Mock Trial Team

The Westerville North Mock Trial Team participated in the annual Ohio Center for Law Related Education’s State High School Mock Trial competition held March 7-9. The team advanced to the state semi-finals for the third straight year, one of only three teams in the state to do so. The students placed first in both the district and the regional competition, earning the right to advance to the state tournament.
