The safety and security of students is a top priority for Westerville City Schools and here at Westerville North. The purpose of this letter is to inform you that today, as part of the district's comprehensive safety plan, our students participated in a lockdown drill as required by Section 3737.73 of the Ohio Revised Code. The purpose of such safety drills is to help students understand the procedures to follow in the event of an emergency in which they would need to be secured in the school building.
Ohio's New Accountability System
This month, the state of Ohio will release the new school report card, which will give insight into how well schools are performing. It is designed to give parents more information about their students as well as provide data for individual schools to make informed instructional decisions.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have had the opportunity to recognize many of our students for wonderful accomplishments and I have also recently recieved some recognitions for some of our teachers that I would like to share with our learning community! Finally, I promised I would share some information about the new accountability system for the state of Ohio and how are school will be "graded" in the future.
Kroger Community Rewards
Welcome back from what I hope was a restful Spring Break. The week before we left for break was a very exciting week with many wonderful recognitions and these accolades are ones we need to celebrate as we look forward to a positive close to this school year. I have included these recognitions as well some important information about college readiness.
Westerville North Mock Trial Team
The Westerville North Mock Trial Team participated in the annual Ohio Center for Law Related Education’s State High School Mock Trial competition held March 7-9. The team advanced to the state semi-finals for the third straight year, one of only three teams in the state to do so. The students placed first in both the district and the regional competition, earning the right to advance to the state tournament.
It is hard to believe but we are getting ready to enter the 4th quarter of our school year. We have just completed OGT week and are only one week away from Spring Break (March 25-29). As you know, we have enjoyed an incredible winter activities season together over the last few months. Both of our basketball programs earned OCC Championships, had Player of the Year (Simmons, Gibbs) honors, and Coach of the Year (Kloepfer, Thuman) honors.
